A day trip to the Ourika Valley from Marrakech is one of the most popular excursions in Marrakech to follow the trails of the Berbers of Morocco and explore the Atlas Mountains, Berber villages, and markets. In addition, we also give you the opportunity to have one of the most exciting experiences you can do: hiking on the western slopes of the High Atlas Mountains.

Itinerary :

8h00 AM :Atlas Mountains Day Trip from Marrakech :

The full-day excursion to the Ourika Valley will begin at 9:00 AM with a drive through the beautiful plains of Houz. Upon arrival in this town, we will make a mandatory stop at the local women’s Argan oil cooperative to see how this liquid gold is extracted and used to make products such as cosmetics. Although many people may not realize it, this is where the main ingredients for some of the world’s finest cosmetics are sourced.

From here, we’ll continue to Tnin Ourika, one of the largest Berber souks in the area, where all the villagers from the Ourika Valley come once a week to trade and buy their goods. Perhaps, with a bit of luck, we’ll even see them trading.

Shared Budget for a Day Trip to the Ourika Valley:

On our Ourika Valley Day Trip, we’ll follow the Ourika River, driving alongside the current to the Berber village of Setti Fatma, where many locals escape the summer heat and spend a day in the shade of the walnut trees. This is another experience we highly recommend if you return to Morocco with more time. You’ll never forget it!

For those who want to explore the valley on foot, there are many local hiking guides available to lead you to some stunning waterfalls and bring you back to your starting point. However, if you prefer a more relaxed day, you can unwind at one of the riverside cafes and enjoy the rest of the day listening to the sound of the stream with the High Atlas Mountains as a backdrop. Local cafes offer light lunches at affordable prices to suit all budgets.

Once this tour is finished, we will return to Marrakech in the afternoon to conclude your day trip to the Ourika Valley. You will spend the night at your pre-booked hotel or riad.

It depends on the time of year you visit us, in winter the weather is cold in Morocco and especially in the desert at night, so check first on a weather page to know better and exactly for the days you will be here, in early summer, let’s say from May to September, As we know, this country reaches 35-40 degrees, so you should choose your clothes as if you were having a direct trip to the beach. And you can even add to your list of trips to visit our beaches such as Essaouira, Agadir, Tangier, White House just to mention a few of them, we have daily tours available.

Which route should you select?

The excursion to Zagora is for those who visit the country for a couple of days and do not want to miss the opportunity to see once the dunes, in Zagora the dunes are much smaller than Merzouga but no less beautiful, the two of them have the magic of the desert and the logistics until we reach Ouarzazate is the same as it is the same road, on this first and only night tour you will sleep in the desert camp of Zagora.

The Merzouga tour, as it is further away than Zagora, is offered as a 3 days tour the first night is in Dades Georges and the second night you will sleep in the Merzouga camp.

On the fence to book the private or shared tour?

The Sahara desert tour from Marrakech is offered as shared, which means that you will be accompanied by 16 more travelers from all over the world, the languages spoken by the driver are English and the local languages.

The private tour we offer in Spanish and local languages, the tour is done only with the people traveling with you, the minimum is 2 people, but we can also make an exception if you are just a traveler and an additional amount will be added.

Traveling alone?

There are some taboos we sometimes hear from different countries, and stories we don’t know if they’re true or not, but I highly recommend that if you have the opportunity to travel alone to this country, it’s something you should definitely do! There’s nothing to worry about, especially if you’re a woman. The only thing that might be uncomfortable is if a vendor is begging you to buy their products, and that’s about it. The city is full of tourists year-round, and security is especially attentive to tourists.

Mi familia y yo nos embarcamos en un viaje fantástico desde Marrakech a Fez, dirigido por el maravilloso guía Hassan. La diversidad de paisajes y gente de este país fue realmente cautivadora. Tener a Hassan con nosotros fue una ventaja: conocía todos los lugares correctos para descubrir, incluido dónde apoyar a los artesanos trabajadores que vendían artículos como alfombras y pañuelos para la cabeza. Un momento especial fue ser invitado a la casa de una familia nómada amazigh (bereber). Nuestro viaje fue una combinación perfecta de conocimientos culturales y momentos agradables. Y déjame decirte que derrochar un poco en paseos en quad por el Sahara valió la pena. Un gran agradecimiento a nuestro guía Hassan por hacerlo aún más memorable.

¡Recomendaría este tour sin pensármelo!
Youseff ha sido súper flexible desde el primer momento con los imprevistos que han surgido antes de viajar. Habla perfectamente español y fue especialmente atento con nosotros. Sin duda recomiendo visitar Marruecos con guía. La tranquilidad y la comodidad que hemos tenido durante todo el viaje no tiene precio.
Además, conoce a la perfección lugares locales donde poder llevar a los turistas y que la experiencia sea muchísimo más personalizada, conociendo la cultura desde dentro.

Cuando organizamos el tour siempre súper atentos, moldearon toda la experiencia a nuestro gusto para que estuviésemos lo más cómodos posibles. Nuestro guía fue Youssef que es maravilloso, muy gracioso, atento y simpático. Nos hizo disfrutar del tour un montón. También tuvimos a Hassan que es fantástico. Todo un acierto haber reservado el tour con ellos. Desde el primer momento, nuestro guía Hassan fue muy atento con nosotras, preocupándose siempre por nuestro bienestar y con un trato excelente. Nos iba explicando los lugares, monumentos y curiosidades de este país que tanto tiene que ofrecer. El tour por el desierto ha sido la mayor experiencia del viaje, todo muy bien organizado, 3 días de visitas imprescindibles y una noche mágica alojadas en jaimas en el desierto.
