Description :

Our tour to the Merzouga desert will begin around 7:00-7:30 am. At this time, we will pick you up from your riad and head to our private transport.
This is a special trip; you will experience the desert in a more intimate and profound way. It is an intense but unique journey.
Morocco is home to incredible landscapes, a unique culture, invaluable architecture and historical heritage, natural beauty, and much more that you will discover with us.
We will also travel through several valleys, oases, and rocky plateaus, followed by the impressive sand dunes of Erg Chebbi (Merzouga).

Highlights:

  • Cross the High Atlas Mountains with its majestic Tizi N'tichka pass.
  • Visit the legendary world heritage of the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou.
  • See the Skoura Oasis on the road.
  • Visit the Todra Gorges.
  • Ride a camel in Erg Chebbi to watch the changing colors of the sunset.
  • Overnight stay in a Berber camp in the desert.
  • Visit Ouarzazate with its Kasbah of Taourirt. (we will only see part of this point due to the last earthquake in 2023)
  • Ride a quad bike through the dunes.

Itinerary:

Day 1 : Marrakech – Boumalne Dades (06h00 by car)

Your 3-day excursion to the Merzouga desert begins early in the morning. We will pick you up around 7:00-7:30 am from your accommodation or the nearest accessible point . Once the group is assembled, we will depart for the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou via the Tizi N’tichka pass and the Atlas Mountains. Several stops will be made along the way. First, we will visit the Kasbah Ait Ben Haddou , a UNESCO World Heritage Site, which has served as a backdrop for several Hollywood blockbusters. We will have lunch there and then continue to Ouarzazate and visit the Kasbah Taourirt (we will only see part of it as it is currently closed due to the earthquake) . Those who wish can also visit the film studios for a short time, which costs around three euros. In the afternoon, we will head to Boumalne Dades via the Valley of Roses. The first day ends at our hotel, where you can relax by the pool during the warmer months. The hotel is located in the Dades Valley (dinner and accommodation).

Day 2: Boumalne Dades – Merzouga (4h00 by car)

After breakfast at your hotel in the Dades Valley, our journey begins by taking the Road of 1001 Kasbahs through the Tighir oasis. We’ll then turn onto a secondary road, driving alongside the river until we reach the Todgha Gorges. Afterward, you’ll have some free time to admire the breathtaking cliffs and enjoy lunch at a local café. We’ll then continue towards Rissani, where we’ll make a brief stop. This town is famous for its date market and was once a starting point for caravan trade routes across the Sahara Desert to Timbuktu. Following this short break, we’ll continue to Merzouga through the rugged desert landscape. Upon reaching the edge of the Erg Chebbi dunes, we’ll meet our camel caravan and ride across the incredible sand dunes to our camp.

Just before nightfall, we’ll arrive at our camp in the Sahara Desert . Weather permitting, we’ll go sandboarding, sliding down the dunes on our boards and seeing how you can keep your balance. After some time laughing and admiring the beauty of the dunes and the surrounding landscapes, we’ll enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner and gather around the campfire. In the evening, our local nomadic hosts will entertain us with their drumming, and we’ll dance until we’re exhausted.
We’re going to sleep in our beautiful tent at the camp.

Day 3: Merzouga – Marrakech (9h00 by car)

After an early breakfast, we will meet our quads to begin a pure adrenaline activity through the dunes, finishing at the edge of the desert where we will meet our driver and vehicle to go back to Ouarzazate where there will be free time for lunch, we continue in the afternoon to Marrakech through the High Atlas Mountains.

We will arrive from 6:30 pm onwards

  • Transportation in a modern minibus driven by a Spanish/English/French speaking chauffeur.
  • Pick-up from your hotel/Riad in the center of Marrakech (or from the nearest accessible point).
  • First night in a hotel located in the Dades Valley, including dinner and breakfast.
  • Second night in our camp in the desert of Erg Chebbi (Merzouga), including camel ride, quad bike, sand board, dinner and breakfast.
  • Local guide in Kasbah ait ben haddou and Todra Gorges (mandatory gratuity 5€ not included)
