On this day trip we will visit Essaouira, an ancient fortress and fishing port located 2 hours by car from Marrakech, and considered one of the most popular excursions outside of busy and bustling Marrakech.

A day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech is undoubtedly one of the most appreciated excursions by our clients: many of them discover this hidden gem for the first time, a place they will surely decide to visit again on another occasion to enjoy a break in the peaceful, artistic and hippie city of Essaouira.

From experience, we can say that exploring Essaouira on your own is easy: the people of Essaouira are very friendly, the Medina is quite small (compared to other ancient towns in Morocco), and its streets are well-organized. You definitely don’t need a guide for the city tour. If you do want a guide, your driver will help you hire a local one.
In the late afternoon, we return to Marrakech, and your day trip to Essaouira will end with your return to your hotel or the nearest accessible point by car to your Riad.

8h00 AM - 9h00 AM Approx :Full-day tour to Essaouira from Marrakech:

Your day trip to Essaouira from Marrakech will begin with a drive along the Haouz plains towards the village of Chichaoua where we will stop for a cup of coffee before continuing to Sidi Mokhtar. On your way, we will cross the forest of Argan trees, where you can observe some goats climbing the trees. To see how Argan oil (also called liquid gold or Moroccan oil) is extracted, you can visit a local ladies’ cooperative and learn how some fine cosmetic products are made locally from the rich Argan oil.

After the visit we will return to Marrakech where the excursion will end.

Which route should you select?

On this excursion, you’ll spend the first and only night at the Zagora desert camp.The excursion to Merzouga, since it is further away than Zagora, is offered as a 3-day excursion; the first night is in Dades Georges and the second night you will sleep in the Merzouga camp.

On the fence to book the private or shared tour?

The Sahara Desert excursion from Marrakech is offered as a shared tour, meaning you will be accompanied by 16 other travelers from all over the world. The driver speaks English and local languages.The private tour we offer in Spanish and local languages ​​is conducted only with the people traveling with you. Traveling alone?
