Description :

This 4 days Merzouga desert tour will have you exploring a totally unknown area. Starting from Marrakech until you reach the dunes of Merzouga and Zagora, you will be able to enjoy the majestic Sahara desert for four days. This way, you can follow the caravan paths as you drive past the Draa Valley with its palm-lined oases and fortified Kasbahs; cross the volcanic massif of the Contra Atlas Mountains, ride a camel in Erg Chebbi, sleep under the stars in your camp in Morocco’s Sahara desert in Merzouga and cross the Valley of Roses and the 1001 Kasbahs Trail. In this way, we will be able to reach Air Ben Haddou and admire its splendid Kasbah.

Itinerary :

Day 1 :Marrakech – Zagora (6-hour trip)

Our  4-day Moroccan desert tour from Marrakech  departs from your hotel or riad at 8:00 AM. The first area we’ll visit is through  the Atlas Mountains  over the Tizi n’Tichka pass; the pass rises 2,260 meters above sea level, offering breathtaking views. We’ll make several stops to admire the scenery and take photos. We’ll arrive in Ouarzazate and visit  the Taourirt Kasbah . Lunch will be served before we continue to  Zagora .
The Draa River has created a vast oasis approximately 200 meters high at the foot of the Counter  Atlas Mountains . This valley has been coveted by nomads for centuries. We recommend stopping in  Tinzouline along the way  to see the graffiti on the rocks.
Furthermore, all along the way there, you’ll find many palm groves that will provide shade amidst Kasbahs and Ksours filled with fields of corn, barley, vegetables, and henna plantations. Dinner and overnight stay in  Zagora .

Day 2 :Zagora – merzouga (6 hour trip)

Today, we’ll cross the volcanic peaks of the Counter Atlas Mountains, heading southeast through otherworldly landscapes and passing oases in the middle of nowhere. We plan to stop for lunch at the Alnif oasis, where we’ll eat and recharge before continuing to Merzouga and then on to Erg Chebbi, where our Sahara Desert camp is located .
Once we arrive, we’ll switch to camels for a camel trek in Erg Chebbi and witness one of the most sought-after sights on the planet: the dramatic sunset over the ever-changing dunes! Afterward, mission accomplished, we’ll return to our camp for a delicious Moroccan dinner under the stars, while local nomads entertain us with their drumming.

Day 3 :Merzouga – Dades (6 hour trip)

After breakfast at the desert camp, we’ll travel through the 1001 Kasbahs, passing rivers, oases, and fortified kasbahs, arriving in Tinghir. There, you can enjoy a walk along the banks of the Todra Gorge towards the Todra Gorge. We’ll make a short stop for lunch before continuing our journey in the early afternoon to explore the Dades Valley. Here, you’ll pass by several fortified kasbahs and Berber villas as the sun sets, continuing towards the Dades Gorge before returning to your hotel for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4 :Dades – marrakech (6-hour trip)

After breakfast, we’ll travel along the Valley of Roses towards Kalaa Megouna, where you can visit a rosewater cooperative and learn how locals make rosewater perfumes.
We’ll continue to the Skoura Oasis, considered one of the largest oases in the South, and visit one of the kasbahs there (time permitting) before continuing to Ouarzazate for lunch.
In the early afternoon, we’ll travel to Marrakech via the Tizi n’Tichka pass, and your driver will take you directly to your hotel or riad, concluding your 4-day desert tour from Marrakech.

What is the meeting point?

We pick you up at your accommodation indicated in the reservation, at 7:30 am

What to pack in your luggage?

It depends on the time of year you visit us, in winter the weather is cold in Morocco and especially in the desert at night, so check first on a weather page to know better and exactly for the days you will be here, in early summer, let’s say from May to September, As we know, this country reaches 35-40 degrees, so you should choose your clothes as if you were having a direct trip to the beach. And you can even add to your list of trips to visit our beaches such as Essaouira, Agadir, Tangier, White House just to mention a few of them, we have daily tours available.

Which route should you select?

The excursion to Zagora is for those who visit the country for a couple of days and do not want to miss the opportunity to see once the dunes, in Zagora the dunes are much smaller than Merzouga but no less beautiful, the two of them have the magic of the desert and the logistics until we reach Ouarzazate is the same as it is the same road, on this first and only night tour you will sleep in the desert camp of Zagora.

The Merzouga tour, as it is further away than Zagora, is offered as a 3 days tour the first night is in Dades Georges and the second night you will sleep in the Merzouga camp.

On the fence to book the private or shared tour?

The Sahara desert tour from Marrakech is offered as shared, which means that you will be accompanied by 16 more travelers from all over the world, the languages spoken by the driver are English and the local languages.

The private tour we offer can be with a driver who speaks Spanish, English or French, depending on availability (if you need another language, you can ask us). The tour is done only with the people traveling with you, the minimum is 2 people, but we can also make an exception if you are just a traveler and an additional amount will be added.

Traveling alone?

There are some taboos that we hear sometimes from different countries and stories that we don’t know if they are true or not, but I will recommend that if you have the opportunity to travel alone to this country, it is something you should do! There is nothing to worry about, especially if you are a woman, the only thing that can be uncomfortable is that a vendor is begging you to buy their products and nothing else, the city is full of tourists all year round and security especially takes care of tourism.
